Meet Nita

Bio / About me and therapeutic focus

Hi, I’m Nita, the counsellor behind Nurtured Roots Counselling. At Nurtured Roots Counselling, I offer a warm, caring, and supportive space where you can feel heard and begin to understand yourself more deeply. I believe that every person desires and has a right to live life to the fullest. No one tree is the same as another, just like us human beings. We are all unique, with our own stories, strengths, and challenges.

I originally come from China and have worked in a multinational company for years, and I also have significant experience in the education field, both overseas and in New Zealand. While being a parent in a multicultural household, I worked in the Auckland community for several years in NGOs before becoming a NZAC-registered counsellor. My work and life experiences have enabled me to understand people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds, different ages, and their life challenges.

Life can be like a tangled knot of threads. When thoughts and feelings become tangled/overwhelmed, it is hard to see how they connect and where the next steps are. My approach is drawn from my belief that the client is the expert on their life. My role is to be a compassionate guide in those moments. By walking alongside your journey,we can organize the clutter of thoughts and feelings, make sense of your experiences, sort through the messiness, find clarity and direction within yourself, and lead to a clear path you have the ability to walk.

It's okay to not have all the answers, and you don't have to figure it out alone. Together, in a safe and confidential space, we can lay out these threads, discover your strength, inner resources, and the wisdom within you. Having a non-judgmental listener can make it all the difference. I am looking forward to getting to know you.
